We have a new preprint available on arXiv! In collaboration with Foroud Bemani and Radim Filip, we developed a TV diagram formalism for quantifying the performance of linear measurements of mechanical motion in cavity optomechanics and electromechanics.
With this tool, we analyse several common measurement strategies—displacement detection, coherent quantum noise cancellation, and quantum nondemolition measurements. We also study various imperfections of QND measurements, which allows us to propose a technique for these measurements in levitated optomechanics.
